Next Level Leadership Programs

CITs & Junior Counselors

At Next Level, leadership is learned by doing. Our CIT and Junior Counselor programs help older campers develop confidence, responsibility, and real-world life skills that aren’t always taught in the classroom — all while being part of the energy and community of camp.

Counselor-in-Training (CIT) Program

For campers who have completed 8th grade
The CIT Program is a first step into leadership at Next Level, blending hands-on camp experience with intentional life-skills development.
CITs:

  • Shadow counselors and specialists and assist with daily camp routines
  • Learn to work with children in a fun, structured environment
  • Build essential life skills often overlooked in the classroom, including:
    • Communication and confidence
    • Problem-solving and decision-making
    • Relationship building and teamwork
    • Conflict resolution
    • Following instruction and taking feedback

Participate in scheduled leadership discussions focused on instruction, problem-solving, relationship building, conflict resolution, and working with children

Program Fee: $1,300 for 4 weeks

Junior Counselor Internship Program

For 14–15 year olds who have completed 9th or 10th grade or have been Next Level CIT’s. The Junior Counselor Program is a paid, entry-level internship experience for teens ready to apply those skills in a real workplace setting.

Junior Counselors:

  • Assist with camper groups, activities, and camp-wide events
  • Help lead games and electives under staff supervision
  • Serve as role models for younger campers
  • Gain hands-on experience in leadership, accountability, and professional responsibility
  • Receive mentorship and feedback from senior staff
