CITs & Junior Counselors
At Next Level, leadership is learned by doing. Our CIT and Junior Counselor programs help older campers develop confidence, responsibility, and real-world life skills that aren’t always taught in the classroom — all while being part of the energy and community of camp.
Counselor-in-Training (CIT) Program
For campers who have completed 8th grade
The CIT Program is a first step into leadership at Next Level, blending hands-on camp experience with intentional life-skills development.
CITs:
- Shadow counselors and specialists and assist with daily camp routines
- Learn to work with children in a fun, structured environment
- Build essential life skills often overlooked in the classroom, including:
- Communication and confidence
- Problem-solving and decision-making
- Relationship building and teamwork
- Conflict resolution
- Following instruction and taking feedback
Participate in scheduled leadership discussions focused on instruction, problem-solving, relationship building, conflict resolution, and working with children
Program Fee: $1,300 for 4 weeks
Junior Counselor Internship Program
For 14–15 year olds who have completed 9th or 10th grade or have been Next Level CIT’s. The Junior Counselor Program is a paid, entry-level internship experience for teens ready to apply those skills in a real workplace setting.
Junior Counselors:
- Assist with camper groups, activities, and camp-wide events
- Help lead games and electives under staff supervision
- Serve as role models for younger campers
- Gain hands-on experience in leadership, accountability, and professional responsibility
- Receive mentorship and feedback from senior staff
